This is Jean Wetzler. I’m talking with Phyllis Grimes about navigating the IRS.gov Web site.
Phyllis, where can you find basic tools on IRS.gov that might be useful for tax professionals?
If you visit the IRS homepage at www.irs.gov, you will find a wealth of valuable information under the “Tax Professionals” tab.
Can you name a few of the basic tools that are featured under the Tax professionals tab?
Certainly. The “Basic Tools for Tax Professionals” page contains information about filing returns for your clients, tax law updates, your responsibilities as a tax professional and frequently used telephone numbers for Practitioners.
Where can I find information about IRS e-file providers?
There is a link for IRS e-file providers on the “Tax Information for Tax Professionals” page. This page is filled with e-file resources to help Tax Professionals do business with the IRS electronically.
How can I learn about news and information that affect the tax professionals?
If you go to the “Tax Information for Tax Professionals” page, you will see the “Tax Professional Topics” section on the left-hand side of the page.
In this section there is a link to “News and Events”. The “News and Events” page has links to late-breaking news stories, upcoming events, and resources for Tax preparers.
You can also subscribe to e-News for Tax Professionals.
It’s one of the best ways for the tax professional community to get the latest national and local IRS news.
Is there a “Frequently Asked Question” page Tax professionals can reference on the Web?
Yes, there is. The Tax Information for Tax Professionals page has an “IRS Resources” section on the left-hand side of the page. Here you will find a link to the “The Frequently Asked Questions” page.
At the top of the page you will see a search box to help customize your navigation results. The answers to top frequently asked questions can also be found on this page.
Thanks, Phyllis. I’ve been talking with Phyllis Grimes of the IRS.
